Opus Pocus

Music: Opus Pocus (from “Jaco Pastorius”/Jaco Pastorius)
Physical condition: very low level
Mood: still crawling

I was in LA when I heard the news – Jaco was dead. I don’t recall the details, he was killed because of a bottle of whisky or something like that, no? Well, I only remember that it was a very sad story. This “Opus Pocus” tune came up suddenly in my mind this morning, and stayed whole day. Strange, because I don’t know much about him, haven’t listened to him recently… it was at least 2 years ago, I think, that I played his music the last time (one of the Weather Report albums).

Home is where the heart(h) is...

Lit the fireplace for the first time this season. Smoky smell, hissing and crackling sound, flickering shadows on the wall… it’s so relaxing. Now the question is: Hot chocolate or red wine? I think I’ll take the latter. "Christmas + Santa Fe" and "In the Arms of Love" are on (+ "Crawl" by Lynyrd Skynyrd) on shuffle mode... This evening is (almost) perfect!

Covered with snow

No, no, it’s not snowing yet! This pic is from the last winter. When I opened the curtain, it was all white there…and I said “wow…”. In the snow the world looks very different, so does surely my little garden! Snow has something magical and mystic, don’t you think?

Commenting on OL's blog

Is it only me who has some difficulties with leaving a comment on OL's blog? I just can't sign in there. It keeps asking my user name + password... sometimes more than 20 times! And there is more. Finally I can sign in, then what happens? My comment disappears and I have to start all over again... :-(

Introducing the Gang #4 - Tommy

This is my Tommy, a tomato red cinquecento. He (in Italian, it’s “she”) is lovely, isn’t he? Sad, he’s been broken and in the garage for a long time already. I don’t know if he can be repaired. I have to find an expert soon. Tommy once could hit 110km/h… but only for 30 sec or so.

Piglet love

A birthday present for someone I know - he's collecting pig items.
Pity, you can't see the lovely curled tail here.

Egg #2 - Sjaak's method

Sjaak sent me these pics. He thought he knew better…right, Sjaak? Well, don’t try to do this at home, folks! ‘Cause this does NOT work.

Where are you, Scotty?

Today is just one of those days that things go wrong and I can't get going. Guess I really need to be beamed up... Where are you, Scotty?!

Mondo Leone - Egg

OL explained the other day on his blog, how to cool a boiled egg with ice. Here I’d like to introduce how to shell an egg according to a friend of mine, Leon. You can see him shelling the egg on his dvd “Mondo Leone”. This cd/dvd is a collection of his theater music and films. A very nice, “feeling good” cd/dvd! My most favorite piece is “Ravioli in Gis mineur”. Super!

How to shell a boiled egg according to Leon
1)Tick to break the top of the egg with the spoon.

2)Turn round the spoon, slide it between the egg white and the shell.

3)Now the eggshell comes off very easily.

A torch song

Back home again! Nice to be back home? Hm, yes and no. For me, back home means back to work. Having worked all day and feeling pain in my wrist (RSI from typing), I wonder why I keep doing this.
Well, ok, one thing I know for sure, I enjoyed this weekend away from home very much. Being in a dreamland, it was. “Gone fishing”, I wrote – I was not really fishing the whole weekend, though. I just took this from a song of Lynyrd Skynyrd (“Gone Fishin’”/Edge of Forever), that’s all.

Thought today:
Music that makes me cry - Part I
“Surrender 2 Love” , “Nuevo México”/OL (+Luna Negra)
“Song About Me”/Alla Pugachova
Crystal Ball”/Styx (Tommy Shaw)
“Don’t Talk To Me Anymore”/Shaw Blades
Home Is Where The Heart Is”/Lynyrd Skynyrd
“Torch Song”/Todd Rundgren

1) TORCH SONG / by Todd Rundgren.
I used to play this song (on a cassette tape) about 20 years ago, again and again…
