It’s now scientifically calculated that January 24th (check here) is the worst and the most depressive, bluesy day of the year. Kind of funny, isn’t it? I didn’t notice anything worse than any other winter Monday, though. Actually, the next day (Tuesday, 25th) was much worse for me. I was very stressed because of my work, hit my head against the door (it still hurts!), milk was almost finished and just enough for one cup of cappuccino (I always take 2), not only milk but also my fridge was almost empty, a bunch of paper got stuck in the printer and took me nearly 1 hour to fix it, mobile phone connection was very bad and I missed 2 phone calls… But, OK, these are things that can happen any other day. So, in short, it was just an ordinary day of the week.

Sorry 2 hear that your week hasn't been that great. Hopefully the weekend will be better for you. BTW, those dictionaries....were they used for reading or as door stoppers?

They're good for losing things, too. I can't tell you how many times I've put paperwork or something I need in some book and then forget where I put it. I'll find it two weeks too late. :)

Had read yout it too but didn't notice anything. Ah well, I had a moment of disappoinment but that was only me, too high flying expectations and so on. I settled it soon.
Hm. You have bugs in Utrecht. We don't. Maybe it's because of the heigth.

Kym's multilinguality: Japanese, Russian, English, Dutch. This we know. Is there even more? So different languages as Japanese and Russian is quite impressive. What made you learn Russian? I guess it was a man!!!

Oh well, maybe this January 24th theory explains a lot! Sorry to hear your work has been so stressful! Seems to be a fair amount of that going around. ;-) But please don't say that's just an ordinary day. :-( Besides, if January 24th is the worst day of the year then things can only get better - right?!
Well, let's run with that theory for now - cause the only other idea I have right now is hitting the "joy juice" - that ain't good.

You’re right – theoretically we have had the worst day already, so it means that things can get only better and better the rest of the year. Good thinking! Very good reason to raise a glass of joy juice (“Head” beer!) now ;-) Cheers!
Oh, I checked the credit of the CD – no, I don’t think this “Diamond & Stones” is the same song as John Denver’s. But the song which Borya quoted, this of John’s and that from “Transformation” – they are all about ups and downs of life, yes? Life is not always easy, some days are not as sunny as other days. That’s life, that’s how it goes. C’est la vie! We’d better focus on better days that still to come.

you have guessed it right. There was someone - a Russian guy - who I wanted to talk with. For English and Dutch, I had more or less the same motivation. Till now it was for me the best way to learn a foreign language. The next language I would like to learn is Italian, this time for it's kitchen. 'Cos I know now that I can live without a man but not without pasta!

Here's to not needing the joy juice much longer! Well, my fanship of John Denver isn't something I easily disclose - I usually use the excuse that it's a state law in Colorado that you have to like his music. Anyway, maybe not the same song, but definitely about life's ups and downs. Interesting they should use the same expression - it's not even an expression I've heard anyone use outside of a song!
